Currently, there are a wide–range of mindfulness–based programs that have developed out of the basic structure and format of MBSR. I applaud these adaptations and experiments, as there are many doors into ‘mindfulness’. I teach the original MBSR course as developed by Jon Kabat -Zinn over 40 years ago. I trained for ten years with some outstanding contemporaries of Jon with onsite studies at UMASS Medical school along with silent retreats before attaining my certification at Brown University, R.I.. I share this for you to know my teaching adheres to a high level of structure and standards, without such adherence, the veracity of MBSR would be diminished and the scientific results increasingly suspect.

Welcome to a practical, no nonsense, fresh way of approaching life!

The practice of mindfulness has been shown to exert a powerful influence on one’s health, mental balance and happiness.

The renowned Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course (MBSR) is a hands-on experiential healing and learning program, intended to engage and connect the mind and the body relationship towards optimal health. You could call this 'participatory medicine' where you will learn to take some responsibility for your health and well-being. You'll soon discover you have more resources to tap into for better physical and mental health than you might have realized. Different from conventual health care, mindfulness recognizes what's working with you and puts it to good use to heal the mind and the body. You will learn to take care of yourself not as a replacement for ongoing treatment, but as a vital important compliment to it. This is a self-directed training program in the art of 'conscious living' where you will come to know ways in which you unknowingly limit yourself which is an important step towards living healthier.   

In each MBSR class as well as the weekly themed lesson, there will be introduction to different mindful meditation practices including some gentle yoga and Qi Gong. We engage in mindful discussion and inquiry about our home meditation practice (support and guidance you would not usually receive if you were just to follow a mindfulness app). For extra insight I share my curated library of poetry which has always been highly beneficial as express by past participants. Practical applications of mindfulness in daily life will also be explored so that participants can meet all the moments of their lives, including times of stress, difficult communication, pain and illness with as much ease, and confidence as possible. 

Come experience this for yourself! All are welcomed. This 8 week highly standardized, evidence-based course, is designed to help participants discover and utilize their own inner resources for bringing balance, health and peace of mind to an ever-changing busy world.

This course includes almost 30 hours of instruction :

  • A pre-class orientation (approx 1 hr)

  • 8 virtual group sessions (2 1/2 hrs each)

  • An 'All Day' Silent Retreat (6 hrs)

  • Numerous supportive handouts, a workbook and recorded guided meditations (MP3s).

  • Maximum class size of 16

Mindfulness training is intended for individuals who are generally healthy, and who
would like to learn to manage their stress more skillfully. Again, MBSR is meant to complement, not replace, any treatments you might be receiving. This course is for those new to mindfulness awareness and meditation, as well as all those have studied with me before to refresh your practice and continue a deeper dive into what you have learned already.
